Sometimes, people have to face the complexities of the legal system without the aid of a lawyer. But that doesn’t mean you have to go it alone. The Legal Assistance Center delivers a range of services to help people resolve their legal needs on their own. We help people help themselves in important areas like family law, housing, consumer disputes and small claims.

When patrons visit the LAC, we discuss their needs and match them with the resources they need. We offer free or low-cost informational packets, attorney referrals, notary services and access to copiers.

Walk-in services are available Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, and Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary. We’re located in the Kent County Courthouse, 180 Ottawa Ave. NW, Suite 5100, Grand Rapids MI 49503. Help is also available by phone at (616) 632-6000.
